HOW TO TRACK RECOVER WIPE OR LOCK YOUR STOLEN PHONE

When you lose your phone via theft or carelessness you did not just lose your phone but also your contacts messages pictures and other valuable information that could be used against you. If you’re a victim of any of the instances mentioned above your situation could best be described as tragic Now we are not here to tell you how pathetic it is to lose a phone with all the information in it! If your phone was collected at gun point or stolen and you wish to track / recover or forget the phone but lock or wipe out your contacts, messages and other important data this tutorial will guide you. Please note that the tutorial is for android phone users only.

To Track your lost Android device with Google’s Android Device Manager; your device should be connected with your Google account that is your gmail account. Secondly your device has access to the internet. Allowe Android Device Manager (ADM) to locate your device (turned on by default). To do this This can changed in the Google Settings app. Allowed ADM to lock your device and erase its data (turned off by default).

If you are reading this you still have your phone take the below steps so that in the event that you lost your phone you can easily recover, wipe or track it.

SWITCH ANDROID DEVICE MANAGER ON OR OFF

Before you can use Android Device Manager, you need to make sure it’s turned on and that your device is associated with your Google Account. If you have a tablet with more than one user, only the tablet owner can control this setting.

  1. Find Google Settings in one of these places (depending on your device):

o          A separate app called Google Settings

o          In your main Settings app, scroll down and touch Google

  1. Touch Security.
  2. Under “Android Device Manager,” switch Remotely locate this device and Allow remote lock and factory reset on or off.

Note: Make sure you sign into your Google account on your device if you want to use Android Device Manager.

 

MAKE SURE LOCATION ACCESS IS ON

To use Android Device Manager, you have to have location access turned on. If you’ve turned it off, here’s how to turn it back on:

  1. Open the Settings app on your device .
  2. Scroll down and touch Location.
  3. Move the switch to the on position.
  4. Check that Android Device Manager can locate your device
  5. After you turn on Android Device Manager, check to make sure that it’s working properly. Sign in to your Google Account on android.com/devicemanager and check to see if your device shows up.
  6. Don’t see your device? Make sure that you’re signed in to your Google Account, location settings are on, and that you’ve turned on Android Device Manager in Google Settings.

 

Android Device Manager is a Google’s official and easy-to-use tool to track your Android phone or tablet. The best thing about it is that you don’t need to install an app to be able to track your devices. The only requirement is that your device is connected to your Google account, turned on and connected to the internet. All you need to do is visit the Android Device Manager while being logged into your Google Account. Once the site is loaded it will automatically try to track down your phone. If you have several Android devices registered, make sure the right one is chosen in the dropdown menu.

If  you lost your android phone quickly visit www.google.com  in the search box type in the phrase “where is my phone”,  or visit www.android.com/devicemanager Google displays a little map above the search results in which it will try to find your phone. Once found, you can let it ring by clicking on “Ring” at the bottom left. You can also wipe the phone data instantly, track the phone location or even permanently lock the phone. This makes it more convenient to find your phone quickly. You are able to track your registered Android devices, let your phone ring and wipe your phone’s data (which has to be enabled manually).  Even if the phone is tuned off you can set that the phone will wipe out or locked as soon as it is powered on.
